Welcome Center Attendant

Job Summary

This position is Part-Time and is classified as Non-Exempt from the overtime requirements contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act and is an Employee (Non-Staff) position.  Performs general cleaning duties at the Keystone Welcome Center.

Job Specific Standards

1.  Performs cleaning duties including washing windows, cleaning restrooms, dusting and washing walls, sweeping and mopping floors and vacuuming.

2.  Picks up litter around the grounds including the pet area.

3.  Empties indoor and outdoor trash receptacles and takes trash to the dumpster.

4.  Washes picnic tables and benches and sweeps the concrete pads in the picnic area.

5.  Sweeps sidewalks and parking lot curbing.

6.  Shovels and blows snow as necessary.

7.  Blows leaves as necessary.

8.  Reports to work in a clean uniform.

9.  Remains on duty until the relieving shift employee arrives.

10.  Enters unusual occurrences, water meter readings and all inoperable or damaged fixtures, etc., into the daily log.

11.  Reports any equipment problems to the Welcome Center Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor.

12.  Participates in required trainings.

13.  Performs additional duties when necessary.

Physical Activities/Requirements

1.  Must be free from communicable diseases or take proper precautions as directed and authorized by a physician.

2.  Required to have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

3.  Perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

4.  Ascend or descend stairs, ramps or two-step ladders.

5.  Bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

6.  Remain stationary for sustained periods of time.

7.  Move about on foot to accomplish tasks or move from one work site to another.

8.  Use upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward or to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

9.  Extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

10.  Raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position. 

11.  Pick, pinch, type and apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

12.  Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.

13.  Repetitive motion of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

14.  Medium Work.  Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions

The Welcome Center Attendant may be subject to environmental conditions when picking up litter, taking trash to the dumpster, shoveling snow or salting sidewalks for ice removal. Certain jobs and activities at Partners In Progress, Inc. may result in occupational exposure to human blood and other body fluids that have the potential for carrying infectious agents. Job Relationships

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Welcome Center Supervisors.

WORKERS SUPERVISED:  None.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS:  Works closely with the general public. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma (or GED). 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Janitorial experience preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:  Must have the ability to multi-task and work effectively with others. Will maintain a customer service level commensurate with the expectations of the Partners In Progress, Inc. Mission Statement.

DRIVER'S LICENSE:  This position does not require operating an agency vehicle.  The Welcome Center Attendants are not authorized to drive vehicles for agency business.

MISCELLANEOUS:  This job description is not a contract.  It is a guideline and can be expected to be updated and changed over time.  The criteria in this job description will be used for annual performance evaluations.
